Dynamic URL Rewriter

| by www.akamarketing.com

The Dynamic URL Rewriter tool can be used to turn dymanic URLs into search engine friendly static URLs. Static URLs typically rank better in the search engines than long complex dynamic URLs with lots of complex parameters, they are easier to index in the first place and they're also friendlier looking to the end user.

The tool works by taking a sample dynamic URL which is in the same format as the dynamic URLs used on your site and then generates the correct code to be placed in the .htaccess file on your webspace. This code in the .htaccess file is then used by Apache's Mod Rewrite module to allow matching URLs to be written into a static and much more spiderable format. Of course this means that this tools requires Apache server to be installed and Mod Rewrite to be enabled to be of any use. I may produce a similiar tool for Microsoft's IIS if demand merits it.
