How to use the most powerful link generation tool known to man

| by David Callan

When you really think about it, you will quickly realize that the rules for success offline are really not that different from those that work online. If anything the basics have really remained more or less the same.

For instance many offline businesses have quickly taken off when the founders have decided to make full use of their current contacts and then have actively been involved in creating new ones all the time. These business contacts usually work very well in helping spread word of mouth about the business and even referring prospects to the business.

How similar things are online. By making contacts with other bloggers and site owners covering subjects closely related to yours, and making them your friends and contacts, a blogger is able to quickly build up on the number of links pointed at their site. The result is high traffic coming to their site directly from the links. Search engine ranking improves and the result is more traffic from search engines.

This is the reason why making friends online is one of the most powerful SEO or link generation tools.

Spend Your Time Socializing

There is so much to see online and so much to do that most people just do not have the time to socialize. This is a big mistake. You should careful prioritize your objectives and tasks online. When you do this, you will find that at the top of your list of objectives, is increasing traffic to your site, which will tend to have a direct impact on your revenue and profitability. Since socializing and making friends online is one of the most effective ways of creating better visibility for your blogs and sites, then it stands to reason that socializing will quickly move up to the top of your list.

Start off by allocating some time to this task. Consistency is very important so make sure that this task is accomplished on a daily basis.

Do not worry too much if the beginning is a little slow as you seek to find the appropriate sites and blogs as well as fine-tune the right methods for meeting new people.

Set A Daily Target And Be Patient

Set a daily target of the minimum number of new people you want to meet every day. It is important that you keep a file of your contacts with all the small details. This is significant because you want to make whatever email you write to them later as personal as possible.

Remember that you will meet different contacts under different circumstances. Some you will be able to discuss business immediately, for others the common interests with which you first communicate will need to be pursued before you can introduce your business interest. So for many of your contacts you will need to be patient.

The Interests Of The Other Person Should Always Be Your Priority

A key rule to remember is that it will be easy for people to sense your selfish interests if that is how you approach the whole issue of making friends. Always remember that you need to be prepared to give first before you can hope to receive. Thus you will tend to be a lot more successful if you approach the whole issue with a mindset that is prepared to start off the relationship thinking about the other person’s interests.

How To Exchange Links And Still Have Only One Way Links

You will need to start off with a minimum of two blogs or sites. This will enable you to exchange links with your contacts without you having reciprocal links pointing at each other’s sites. The problem with reciprocal links is that they do not carry the weight with search engines as one way links.

This problem is easily solved when you have two sites. Let us call your two sites, site ‘A’ and site ‘B’ and your new friend’s site will be site ‘C’. You start off by creating a link in site ‘A’ pointing at site ‘C’. You then ask your friend to create a link in their site ‘C’ pointing at your site ‘B’. All you need to do after that is to ensure that there are one way links in your site ‘B’ pointing to your site ‘A’. In this way you will indirectly enjoy the benefits from all the links pointed at your site B both in terms of traffic and search engine ranking. The important thing is that the search engine robots will not find links pointing towards each other.
