Google Sitemap Generator

| by www.akamarketing.com

The Google Sitemap Generator tool can be used to make an XML document which lists the pages (and associated information) in your site (a Google Sitemap). This document is then uploaded to your server and read by Google to enable better and quicker spidering of your site and its pages. The relevant URL for Google Sitemaps where you can login and submit your maps is https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/

Please enter the full http address for your site, only the links within the starting directory will be included. For instance, "domain.com" and "www.domain.com" are not the same. A maximum of 500 will be indexed in the sitemap. Please check your settings before click the 'Start Site Crawl' button.

David Troedson who is from Australia and runs the http://www.elvis.com.au/ tells me that the crawler just stops indexing his pages, I've looked at his site and can't really figure it out to be honest, on my tool it seems to stop on page 179, so perhaps its a timeout, I think this is likely because when I tried http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/index.php it created it but only after about 10 minutes and it exceeded a max of 500 pages. Here is the link to the one it created : http://www.akamarketing.com/DAVIDsitemap.xml

Please let me know when you download this as I will be taking it down shortly.

This is a great tool! But I am getting an error when I open the sitemap which is created. I have narrowed it down to the fact that some of the addresses on my site have “&show=” in them, which seems to be causing a problem. You can see the error produced by going to http://www.adsbay.co.uk/sitemap.xml
I would love to use this tool, so if you manage to sort this problem out please let me know. Thanks for the great tools on your site!

Earlier this morning Ross Fobina brought something to my attention and a problem with his generated sitemap. URL's like the following seemed to be breaking his xml document::

http://www.adsbay.co.uk/categories.php?parent=1837&show=subcats
http://www.adsbay.co.uk/categories.php?parent=2138&show=subcats

After doing a little bit of research I found that & on its own is not valid and that in a valid xml document it has to be encoded like with '&'. Thats where the semi-colon error was coming from Ross.

So I know what the problem is but I will not actually have a fix for this error in the script until the end of the week at the earliest as I have a lot of SEO work on this week. But I ran it through editplus and simply replaced all '&' with '&' and unloaded it to my server, it parsed fine. Ross the URL is http://www.akamarketing.com/ADSsitemap.xml - Enjoy and thanks for the kind words about my tools.

Hi folks, this encoding issue should be fixed now. Uploaded the fix just there.
